A word from All-American Outdoors about the reel.................
When we first got these reels we were very excited. The looks are nice and the fact of getting 3 spools is a great feature. The drag was tested and was found to be correct to say it is right at 50lbs of drag with the bail engaged and about 10lbs witout the bail. The reel is very smooth has some excellent casting abilities. It is a very smooth and DOES have a lot of power. The split neck is a great feature and it does give a greater sense of control when casting and reeling in. The baitfeeder functioned well on both units we tested. It was just the way it should be. We were very happy with the reels. We did notice that the paint on the front drag knob was not very great though and it seemed to fade quickly, but overall they were excellent reels for the price.
We then used a 3rd reel. It seemed to have a slight shake when spooling it and we also noticed the drags do not correspond with each other (no bearing at all on each other). When questioning the manufacturer, they stated the reel was not faulty and that the reel was modeled after a Japanese style of surf fishing. We don't think that explained the slight shake (could have been single reel defect) when spooling but however it didnt effect the casting of the reel once spooled. The drags were stated to NOT suppost to be corrosponding with each other. It is different and took a little getting used to, but now we have come to the conclusion that the reel is a good reel and has A LOT of power and casts great, but it might require some "tinkering" with and getting used to. This is an honest review and as the primary US distributor for this reel in the USA, we want to let our customers know this and want them to be happy with their purchase. Also please note that the manufacturer has not made it a point to let the customers know that the reel HAS A VERY LARGE REEL FOOT AND IT REQUIRES A LARGE SURF ROD LIKE 8 FOOT or LARGER FOR IT TO FIT IN THE REEL SEAT. ALSO IT NEEDS TO BE NOTED THAT THE REEL HAS TO BE USED WITH BRAIDED LINE. MONO WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS TYPE OF FISHING REEL AND CAN ACTUALLY DAMAGE THE REEL.  We are not saying the reel is poor quality or faulty as it has recieved some mixed reviews....some say it is just the greatest reel ever and other have stated the drag system was confusing and the 50lbs of drag was too much for the frame if you hooked a hog, but overall Revelation Reels products are in all hoestly a higher grade than ANY other reels in their classes and this includes fly reels and big game reels. - AAO Product Testing Staff
